Kim Olsan
As Senior Fixed Income portfolio manager, Kim is the firm’s expert in Municipal Fixed Income. She joined NewSquare in the summer of 2024, bringing deep and broad experience from having spent over three decades in fixed income investing.
At NewSquare, Kim works directly with investors and advisors, bringing her technical and market expertise to identify opportunities where munis can play a meaningful part in an investor’s portfolio. She is also the author of a weekly municipal market commentary, one that is published in the leading industry publication, The Bond Buyer. Through publishing this commentary for more than 20 years, Kim has made a name for herself in the industry as one of its true experts. She was awarded a Third Team All-Star designation from Smith’s Research, a municipal-focused outfit of buyside and sellside analysts, for her commentary in 2022 and 2023. It is rare for someone not in a research role to receive this distinction.
Kim brings a unique style to the portfolio management team. She is driven, always eager to learn, and leads with confidence and conviction. She commands respect from being a true industry expert, steeped in the data, who has a rare command of the marketplace. That, combined with her thoughtful approach and long-term perspective, makes her a great fit for the team.
Kim was attracted to the opportunity at NewSquare to be part of a smaller, collaborative, client-focused team. Kim came to us from FHN Financial, Philadelphia, where she was Senior Vice President, Municipal Trading. Prior to FHN, Kim was a Senior Manager/Desk Head, VBS Bond Trading at the Vanguard Group, Malvern, PA. She joined the fixed income investment industry at Drexel, Burnham Lambert, Philadelphia, PA. She has a bachelor’s degree in government with a minor in sociology from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA.
Kim is clearheaded, cool and analytical when it comes to investing. Passionate when it comes to “football”, also known as “soccer.” Her team? Liverpool. “Of course,” she adds. “I never walk alone!”
