James H. Unger, CFP®

Jim Unger is a financial advisor with deep expertise in helping clients with cash flow and investment planning aimed at helping them reach their life and long-term financial goals.  His approach starts with comprehensive planning based on the unique needs of each client.  Through cash flow modeling based on realistic assumptions, Jim develops investment strategies to generate the desired returns with as little risk as possible. Jim firmly believes it is the integration of rigorous cash flow modeling and sound investment solutions that is key to long-term financial success. He believes his success as an advisor is earned through great attention to detail, his focus on mitigating risk, and the stress-testing of plans and models he provides so his clients can feel a great deal of confidence in their investment strategies.

Jim joined CREATIVE Financial Group in 1989 after spending 6 years working in the family automobile dealership.  Pursuing his interest in financial services, Jim earned the Certified Financial Planner designation in 1992. He founded and helped build out the Wealth Advisory department at CREATIVE and has also served on CREATIVE’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee.

Jim has been involved with NewSquare since its founding and has been a member of the Advisory Board from the beginning.

Jim and his wife Ginny have two children adopted through the Gladney Center for Adoption in Fort Worth, Texas, where Jim is a board member and Chairman of the Finance Committee.  Together with his wife, he is an active and engaged supporter of Special Olympics. Ginny and Jim have served as coaches for the Delaware County Special Olympic Tennis program since 2010. Music plays an important part of Jim’s life: he has played piano since age 10 and continues to write songs and perform with his band at various social and charity events in the Philadelphia area.

Jim graduated from the Haverford School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia in 1982.
